Refining file searches using custom metadata
Are there any planned upgrades which will allow users to filter and sort file search results by custom metadata columns?
Search results are currently displayed in Explorer view meaning that results can only be filtered or sorted by 'name', 'modified by', 'modified' and 'size'. Custom metadata columns do not appear.
Previous upgrades have enabled users to filter and sort by custom metadata columns. This new functionality has improved OnePlaceMail however extending capability to include search results would be of huge benefit to the end user.
We are pleased to advise Release 8.3 supports returning custom columns including email columns when performing a search in a document library.
This enhancement is available in both OnePlaceMail and OnePlace Docs

Please can we have an update? Our staff would really benefit from being able to search and use the library columns.

Having the ability to add library columns to the search page would be a massive benfit to the end user. The current columns modified by & modifed are totally useless for us.
When searching inside a folder having columns such as Email From, Email To, Email Date would empower the end user to be self sufficient.
A recent issue highlighted by an end user led to us having to copy ~2000 emails out of OnePlaceMail and into public folders so they could order emails by Email From, Email To and the sent date. Combining these columns alongside the llibrary search would be a solution that would make their job easier to find the information they require.
In my opinion, it makes sense to have a consistent visualisation to the data being presented to the users. The document library view is great as you can add the columns that the users require. The global search is great as you can help the users by adding the relevant refiners (and you can update the result template to contain the same columns). Unfortuantely the library search columns are just not good enough as it is inconsistent.

Hi all,
The first post was in 2014 and the search output columns still can't be modified or customised.
I started using oneplace in 2016 and am using version 7.7, is there something being done about it? The modified by doesn't help assist in the search because we have migrated a chunk of emails from Outlook to Oneplace so this field is irrelevant.
Kind regards,

Hey Kirsti
Thanks for your comment. No, its not too late!
This item is still on our backlog - there are some technical considerations when returning results on a search query.
I would encourage you to 'vote' on this item - as this helps in determining what is important feature enhancements for our customers.Kind regards

Further to my initial question, I've noticed that the Office Productivity tool does not allow you to sort or filter by custom metadata when saving/opening a file to/from SharePoint.
This makes it difficult to find documents when opening from SharePoint as well as identifying a file to copy the properties as default for, when saving to SharePoint through MS Office applications.
Given that this functionality is available through Outlook, are there any plans to develop it for the Office tool?
Regards,
Simon
