Drag and Drop Operation Error - Outlook 2010
In my previous post ( http://community.scinaptic.com/oneplacemail/topics/errors_when_adding_outlook_emails_to_sharepoint_document_set ) we were experiencing a drag and drop error where there was no helpful error description. However, now we are experiencing a new drag drop error:
An unhandled error has occured in the drag/drop operation (items_ItemAdd event handler). Please try the drag/drop operation again.
Error: Operation aborted (Exception from HRESULT: )x80004004 (E_ABORT))
https://d37wxxhohlp07s.cloudfront.net/s3_images/865223/drag_drop_error.png?1362093162
This error occured when attempting to move 259 emails from a live email folder to a SharePoint Document Set. This was the first transfer of this size after having transfered smaller batches to other (different) document sets.
We have also experienced intermittent issues with attempting to drag drop emails from the " - My OnePlaceMail (Recovered Files) -" folder to a document set as well (eg, after we receieve the initial drag and drop error)
I get the feeling there might be something wrong with the OnePlaceMail.pst file.
Thoughts?
Cheers

Hi Colin
Using the move to sharepoint option in the ribbon has eliminated the drag and drop errors. I think we'll just use that option from now on :)

Hi Justin,
Can you try using the copy and move to SharePoint buttons with OnePlaceMail and see if you get similar results?
Thanks

Hi Colin
Thanks for the quick response. Here is an example of an email subject that is causing the error:
RE: DXS and DWPF - amendment documentation - execution versions
I have check some of the others involved and there doens't appear to be any characters that I would consider problematic for a 'save as' event in Windows.

Hi Justin,
I don't think it is the pst file that's the problem. When you drag and drop emails we perform a 'save as' to a local temporary folder. For some reason it is failing on a particular email so the email is not able to be saved as an msg locally prior to transfer to SharePoint.
Is there any way you could narrow down to the partuclar email that is causing the issue? If you identify this we could look at the email subject (msg filename is based on this and we strip out invalid filename characters from it) and contents of email to see if there is anything specific with it.
Thanks in advance
Colin
