Documents sent by Oneplacemail are read-only
When someone sends me a link using Oneplacemail, the document opens as 'Read-only' with no option to edit. Obviously there is no point in using Oneplacemail if I can't edit documents. Is it possible to change my settings so that I can edit? My colleagues have the same issue.

Hi Elissa, thanks for the answer, but I still don't understand.
I'm not sending an attachment. I'm using the button 'e-mail as link' to send as link to a SharePoint file through the mail. However when the recipient clicks the link, the document opens as read-only, with no convenient way to edit the document. Because of this the recipient has no choice, but to go looking for the document themselves if they have to edit it.
We've found out that if we disable 'Use Document ID's when creating links' in the General settings, we do get the option to edit the document. However we would prefer not to lose this function/

Hi F
This is the default behaviour in Office to deal with attachments.
Sending an attachment as a link to the item in SharePoint, minimises data in Outlook and helps the file remain in SharePoint for collaboration.
if the file is sent as an attachment, then Word/Excel etc will open the attachment as read only.
There is no way to overwrite how Office handles the attachment.
If you have OnePlaceDocs, and open the file from the Docs Explorer, this will open the file in edit mode.
Kind regards
Elissa
