An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedAs a further idea to this: would it be possible to automatically file the attachments separately from the email, then file the email either with / or without them? I.e.
* User clicks on Copy or Move email to SharePoint. The email has attachments.
* The pop-up window shows the options (tickboxes) to "File attachments separately" and "Remove attachments from email". The user may choose either or both
* If the attachments are removed, they will be replaced with links to their SharePoint location.
* Should a file with the same name as the attachment already exist in SharePoint, the user will be asked whether to save over it (as new version), or rename the file.One further idea - which could be a further, optional configuration option for the above - would be to enable a folder to be automatically created automatically to hold the attachments (and perhaps the email itself?). The folder should have the same fields and metadata as the email gets when filed. In fact, it might even be possible to implement it as a Custom Content Type (created in code) so that the folder would BE the filed email; and then contain the attachments (=something similar to a Document Set). Of course we try hard to avoid folders... but this *could* be a case where the benefits would exceed the downsides.

Hi Elissa, I noticed your comment only after posting mine. Please note there is an important difference in Ami's request compared to the standard functionality - at present, the user has to do twice the amount of work, FIRST file the attachments, THEN file the email.
What's more, at present the user has to file the attachments email-by-email; they can't do that in batch. So filing 50 emails with attachments separated can easily take the user more than half an hour; whereas the proposed change would shorten that to a minute! A 3000% saving in working time!
