How to get around "Too Many eMail Recipients"? (I hate u 401 error)
So far I LOVE this product, LOVE IT!!!
HOWEVER we're found one TRULY fatal flaw that I'm hoping someone can help me with... Number of eMail recipients. There seems to be some definite maximum capacity regarding how many recipients there can be in an eMail that will successfully move/copy to SharePoint 2010 via OnePlaceMail.
We have the Express Edition working great with ONE exception, if we want to copy/move a mail to a SharePoint (2010) Library, everything works according to documentation EXCEPT the upload fails if there are "too many" recipients of the original mail.
Example: we sent an all-staff mail that went to a good 40 individually entered addresses. We do not know what the max allowable is, but 40 is clearly too many as it spits the error:
Failed to render "Document ID" column because of an error in the "Hyperlink or Picture" field type control. See details in log. Exception message: Invalid URL: " http://www.example.com". .
FWDing that EXACT same eMail (since the recipient list of re-sending to myself is 1) yields a successful copy/move, as the recipient threshold is far below the max.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE MAX RECIPIENTS A EMAIL CAN HAVE FOR IT TO BE SUCCESSFULLY COPY/MOVED TO A SHAREPOINT 2010 DOCUMENT LIBRARY??? Better yet, how do I get around this rather LARGE issue?
If I can fix this one issue, this becomes a viable produce for me and mine and I'm really rooting for OnePlaceMail, but if I can't fix this issue it's essentially a dealbreaker and i'm back to square one :(
Thanks in advance to any guru who might be able to yank me from my ignorance :D

Great news!
After some trial and error we've gotten everything squared away, including learning that one of the test eMails we'd been using (the ORIGINAL problem child) had a corrupted header, thus it would NEVER sort correctly. The file error made us think that changing the columns as advised DID NOT actually work when in reality it DID!
We've now successfully tested 50+ emails with 50+ individual recipients with ZERO errors, and i couldn't be happier!
Now comes the battle to get buy-in from the end users (eek! lol!)
Thank you both SO much for your help in getting things working 100%, now i can widen our evaluation group and really put the product thru it's paces.
Again, thank you so much for the assistance and attentiveness!

This is WAD (Works As Designed). If there was an error (i.e. file was not uploaded) then link is not displayed.

Sandbox Solution
Just to be clear, it is not a requirement to install the OnePlaceMail Sandbox solution.
The OnePlaceMail Sandbox solution includes a set of SharePoint columns (Email columns), an Email Content Type, a Library Template and a feature called ‘Email as Attachment’. These capabilities are provided in a standard SharePoint .wsp solution file you can install & activate in your SharePoint Solution gallery. However, you are not required to use the Sandbox solution. The solution is provided to expedite the process of creating the Email Columns and also to provide a library template for evaluation / as starting point for creating a required library. You can definitely use your own Email Columns if you prefer or have policies in place.
Notes:
1. We have modified the Email Columns (in the sandbox solution) to not show when editing an Item in SharePoint as we see the email attributes as a record of the email and you wouldn’t normally want users modifying this content
2. If you use your own Columns you will need to setup a Column mapping table to define the mapping between email attributes and the Columns you have created- see kb article: http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0085.html
Stage 1: Troubleshooting (Basic Library)
To assist with troubleshooting your issue, we would like you to perform the following steps and confirm the results:
Turn on logging ( http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0062.html )
Create a standard SharePoint Document Library in the same SharePoint site as the library where you are having issues (Do not add any extra columns at this stage)
Add the new document library to the left navigation of Outlook via OnePlaceMail
Drag & drop the email (Right-click drag/drop to provide copy option) causing the error into the standard document library
Select ‘Save’ in the Save to SharePoint Window
Can you confirm if this was successful? If this is successful, we can focus our attention to the Columns within your other Library. If not, please send the log to to ilia(at)scinaptic(dot)com
Stage 2: Troubleshooting (Column Mapping)
Given you are planning to use your own SharePoint Columns, can you confirm you have configured Columns Mapping by providing the 2 screenshots below from your environment:
Assuming you Column mapping enabled in the Settings window, can you perform the following to help us troubleshoot the issue:
Turn on logging ( http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0062.html )
Open the OnePlaceMail Settings Window
Uncheck/turn off the ‘Specify custom column mapping list’
Close & restart Outlook
Drag & drop the email (Right-click drag/drop to provide copy option) causing the error into the original document library where you have been having the error appear
Select ‘Save’ in the Save to SharePoint Window
Can you confirm if this was successful? If not, please send the log to to ilia(at)scinaptic(dot)com
Please provide the following 2 screenshots form your environment:

Almost forgot, of the scenarios in this link: http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0016.html
Scenario 3 seems closest to the behavior exhibited.
- The site is already in the "Local Intranet Zone" for all our users.
- Currently all testers have Contributor access with myself having Full Control.
Also, regarding the upload error above, this is a different, much less descriptive error. Previous to changing the the columns to support multiple lines and unlimited lengths, there error was still a 401, but had an actual description and a link that would display a more specific error msg on an additional page vs the very short and not descriptive newer msg (that has no link to a 2nd error page as before).
attached is an image of the current error. https://d37wxxhohlp07s.cloudfront.net/s3_images/740750/Error401.png?1337619208

Correct, we are NOT using the Sandbox as all documentation said that it is optional. Not wanting any extrenuous 3rd party software on our production server it seemed that OnePlaceMail's flexibility of use was ideal, as by policy anything "sandbox" isn't allowed.
We chose OnePlaceMail specifically because of it's seemingly simple setup and configuration with software being client-side. The marketing spoke to everything we wanted as well as what we did not want, from competitors.
From what you're describing however, it sounds like the expected method of install IS to use the sandbox?
To answer some of the questions and rule out some of the obvious potential issues:
- I'm site admin of our SharePoint 2010 install.
- I'm using ad admin account for all steps thus far.
- Proper permissions for write access to related Libraries and Lists have all been set.
- on the "1-5" section: yes credentials are working correctly and the file can be uploaded, but with 1 caveat.
- Upload via "Upload Multiple Documents" works successfully but no metadata (obviously)
- Upload via "Open w/Explorer" works successfully but no metadata (obviously)
- Upload via "Upload Document" yields error:
Failed to get value of the "Attachments" column from the "Multiple lines of text" field type control. See details in log. Exception message: Attachment field cannot be updated..
(seemingly different error)
This error and behavior is the same regardless of what file type is being moved; tested with .MSG, .TXT, and .PDF
Installing the Sandbox is not an option for our current policy and situation so I'm really hoping that I don't have to start entirely over looking for a similar product.
By far the most frustrating part is coming SO CLOSE to having a solution that perfectly fits our needs.
Thank you both SO MUCH for your assistance in this matter.

Hi Yoshi,
based on your screenshot I can see you're not usign the SharePoint columns provided in the OnePlaceMail Sandbox Solution. Unless you have a reason for wanting to use your own columns I'd recommend to install the OnePlaceMail Sandbox solution and use columns provided with it.
Refer to http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0052.html for instructions on installing this solution.
After installation follow "Getting Started with the OnePlaceMail SharePoint Sandbox Solution" article http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0079.html in order to properly add Email Columns to the existing library.
Could you please check solutions 2 and 3 from our "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized" error when performing various operations in OnePlaceMail" Knowledgebase article:
http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0016.html
If that doesn't help, please try the following:
1) In Outlook navigate to OnePlaceMail tab - click OnePlaceMail Settings - Credential tab. Check that "Use Default Credentials" checkbox is marked.
2) Save email message you've mentioned (with 40 recipients) as msg file (In Outlook menu "File" - "Save as") to your computer.
3) Open SharePoint Library in Internet Explorer. Verify your credentials in the upper right corner of the library
4) Upload msg file to the library from step 2. Are you able to reproduce the issue? If so, please upload a screenshot of the issue (including the SharePoint library if possible).
5) Create a txt file in Notepad, put some text in it and upload this file to the same library. Are there any issues after this step?
I've tried to upload a message with 100 recipients and it was fine for me:
https://d37wxxhohlp07s.cloudfront.net/s3_images/739225/a_lot_or_rec.png?1337237759
If the above does not help, please do the following:
1) Turn on logging ( http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0062.html )
2) Reproduce the issue
3) Send log file to ilia(at)scinaptic(dot)com

Thanks so much for the reply!
I was very hopeful as the highlighted areas you indicated WERE set to Single/Limited; the appropriate columns are now set to Multiple/Unlimited however the error persists :(
Below is a screencap of my specific settings (note this is a 2010 evironment):

Any other ideas or suggestions would be VERY appreciated.
It feels like I'm 99% of the way there!

Can you confirm the Column details for the To, CC and BCC (see screenshots below). I would like to confirm the Columns are set as multiple lines with unlimited length.
